EFF leader – Julius Malema and co-accused – Adriaan Snyman are expected to come before the court next year January, in the East London Magistrate’s Court. Their charges include discharging a firearm in the public.
Malema is currently facing five charges which include
the unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition,
discharging the firearm in a public space or built-up area, and
reckless endangerment to person or property.
On the other hand, Snyman is facing two charges.
Malema was captured on camera in 2018 (during EFF’s fifth-anniversary celebrations) after he allegedly discharged “supposedly” an automatic assault rifle at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, East London.
According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson – Anelisa Ngcakani, the case was adjourned for a pre-trial until 15 January 2021.
“Warrants of arrest have been held over for both accused,” added Ngcakani
However, Malema appeared in court earlier this week for a different case.
On a different pending case, in which they were faulted for assaulting a police officer, Malema and MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi will have no choice than to wait till another month to decide their fate.
