Greasy and oily treats are often called soul-satiating foods, and no foodie can help indulging in them once in a while.

Another truth that follows post such meals is indigestion, heaviness and burning sensation in the throat and stomach, which is caused due to excessive oil and spices.

The question of concern is, what to do after consuming oily food?

This piece of information explores some simple and effective solutions that can help you recover from the uneasiness faster.

Take a look.

1. Drink warm water
It is suggested to drink lukewarm water as it helps speed up digestion and makes it easy for the digestive system to break down the greasy food into smaller and softer forms. If you skip drinking water after a heavy meal, your intestine might absorb the water from the food and lead to constipation.

2. Green tea
Another beverage that you can opt for is green tea. It is rich in flavonoid that adds antioxidants that further help in balancing the oxidative load on the digestive system.

3. Probiotic food
According to Ayurveda, having curd with roasted cumin post meal helps boost the digestive system. The probiotics Lactobacillus bacteria help prevent acidity and boost proper bowel movement.

4. Consume fibre-rich food in the next meal
Consuming fibre-rich oats in the next meal will help recover the damage, as the fibre content helps in cleaning the gut. The fibre-rich foods will keep you full for longer and slow energy release will help you stay active for a longer period, while the digestive system will recover the damage caused due to heavy greasy foods.

5. Avoid cold food
Eating cold foods like ice cream or popsicles might tempt your taste buds, but they are not good for the gut. Eating cold food right after having greasy food increases the pressure of intestines, stomach and liver, and makes it difficult for smooth digestion of greasy food.

6. Nuts and seeds
The next day diet may also include nuts and seeds, as they are rich in fiber and might help in boosting digestive health.

7. Walk for a while
Whether you eat greasy food or not, a 1000 step walk post every meal is always good and helps in smooth digestion and stimulate metabolism.

8. Ajwain water
Consuming a teaspoon of ajwain with lukewarm water post meal helps in smoothing the digestion process and helps avoid gas, bloating and indigestion.
